The eco-efficient harbor cranes will help YILPORT in developing operations sustainably at the terminals outside Europe
YILPORT Holding, based out of Turkey, has reportedly ordered four large, high-performance Model 8 mobile harbor cranes in the first quarter of 2019 from Konecranes, to be deployed at two terminals in Latin America.
Supposedly, two of the large Konecranes Gottwald cranes would start operating in in mid-2019 at Puerto Quetzal, Guatemala, two months after which the remaining two cranes would begin operations in Ecuador’s Puerto Bolivar.
According to Konecranes, the four new diesel-electric eco-efficient Model 8 mobile harbor cranes ordered by YILPORT would mostly be handling containers in two terminals. They will allow the group in developing terminal operations sustainably at the two Latin America ports. The four identical cranes are two-rope G HMK 8410 models, which offer lifting capacities of up to 100t along with an outreach of up to 61m, enabling operators to handle containers across 19 rows nearby large vessels.
Chairman and owner of YILPORT HOLDING, Robert Yüksel Yildirim said the company aims to become a leader in selected Latin American countries, a region representing a key part in YILPORT’s global growth strategy. For providing customers with the best container handling services at these terminals and meet the challenges in catering to ever-larger vessels, the company has once again chosen high-performance Konecranes Gottwald models, Mr. Yildirim mentioned.
YILPORT has been consistently impressed with the reliability and high handling rates of the cranes provided by Konecranes, Mr. Yildirim added, giving significant importance to the eco-efficiency that these machines offer to the company’s overall strategy.
Andreas Moeller, the Senior Sales Manager for Mobile Harbor Cranes Business Unit at Konecranes, stated that YILPORT is its long-term customer and has selected its cranes again for container handling outside of Europe. He believes that YILPORT’s order for four Model 8 cranes is indicative of how customers can use their technology and wide range of offerings according to their evolving needs.
