Wirecard AG (Wirecard), a German financial services & internet technology company, has reportedly announced that it has teamed up with renowned German chemical firm, BASF SE, to facilitate digital payment services in the firm’s latest farming solution.

Reports cite, the farming solution dubbed, xarvio™ Field Manager, was developed by BASF as an innovative commercial digital product that helps farmers optimize their crop production. The farming solution, under the collaboration, would be able to process global credit card payments through the Wirecard’s financial commerce platform.

According to a press release by Wirecard, the xarvio digital farming solution & Field Manager come under BASF’s Agricultural Solutions unit, which is one of the six segments operated by the group. The Agricultural Solutions division recorded sales of over €5.7 billion back in 2017. Under the terms of the collaboration, Wirecard would be facilitating a customized end-to-end solution, including providing subscription payments for worldwide users & offering an efficient, secure and transparent payment processing service, specifically created for the xarvio digital products.

The Global Head of Commercial Operations Digital Farming, BASF, Andre-Georg Girg stated that the digital transformation brought onto the field of agriculture has opened up a plethora of opportunities for the company to expand its digital service offerings. Girg further stated that the xarvio digital product utilizes technology to boost crop production efficiency & propagate better decision making. As the solution’s international scope required an experienced global partner to facilitate secure & real-time payment services, the company is thrilled to team up with Wirecard to that end.

According to reports, the financial terms related to the partnership has not been unveiled by both the companies yet.
