Kia’s third car with amplified local content is set to debut in 2021 and is going to be a crossover hatchback designed as per the next generation Rio.
The Korean carmaker Kia has plans to launch its third automotive product for the rapidly growing Indian market which is reported to be a cross-hatch built on the next generation Rio. According to sources familiar with the development, the new car has been planned to be positioned as a sub-four-meter model by the Kia Motors India.
If reports are to be believed, Kia outshone the global competition and on several instances overtaken its parent brand Hyundai. After fast-tracking the setting up of Indian operations, Kia is set to launch its first vehicle in the 3rd quarter of 2019 which is a premium compact SUV that is based on the SP concept exhibited at the 2018 Auto Expo, stated sources close to the development.
Although the SP SUV is yet to come, rumors about the second automotive continue to exist. It is alleged to be a sub-four-meter SUV competing against vehicles such as Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza & others in an intensely competitive business space and is anticipated to be inaugurated at the next Auto Expo planned to take place in 2020.

According to credible sources, Rio’s fourth-generation, launched in 2017, is presently sold only in select markets such as China as a cross-hatch design. The KX Cross has larger dimensions than the typical Rio hatchback and is testified to be positioned in the sub-four-meter slab in India pertaining to eligibility for tax exemptions.
With premium hatchbacks deliberately overtaking their cross-hatch siblings, this move could make a significant impact on the automobile industry. As per sources close to the development, the car could be priced between Creta and Elite i20.
