Gaming has witnessed a great demand on Facebook with more than 700 million people on the Facebook gaming platform.

Facebook, the social media giant recently announced that it will be changing how gaming content is viewed on its platform with the launch of its Facebook Gaming tab. The tab, which is in its initial roll out phase will be eventually made available to all Facebook users in the coming weeks.

In 2018, Facebook redesigned the mobile app navigation bar to give users personalized shortcuts to the products they use most often. Vijaye Raji, VP in gaming at Facebook reportedly said that the Facebook Gaming tab will be one such shortcut. Raji added that gaming has witnessed a great demand on Facebook with more than 700 million people on the Facebook gaming platform. Gamers not only play games but also others playing games and build communities in groups.

Gamers can often get their information on News Feed or through groups or through community, game, or streamer special pages. The chief motive for developing a Facebook Gaming tab is to simplify the means of receiving and finding information. The tab brings together all gaming related activities such as watching gaming videos, playing games, connecting with gaming groups and discover things to engage with. The tab will appear at the bottom of mobile device screens.

Eligibility for receiving the Facebook Gaming tab will depend on the frequency of monthly gaming content interaction such as playing games, watching others play or participating in gaming groups. In case the Gaming tab does not appear on the navigation bar, it will be available in the bookmark menu on the Facebook app. It can also be used to follow a streamer and subscribe to their feed for a monthly fee. When subscribed streamers go live, followers are notified. Notification is also sent if the user has a turn to play in a game.

The social network giant is also testing to beta version of a Gaming app on Android that will be equipped with more features than the Facebook Gaming tab.
