DARING Foods, a Scotland-based start-up offering plant-based food, is currently in the news for securing its first distribution deal with Glasgow-based Lomond Fine Foods. Sources close to the development state that the tie-up is likely to reach as many as 300 locations in 2019’s first quarter, while its menus shall be available in about 35 locations throughout Scotland by January end.

Reportedly, DARING Foods founders, Ross Mackay and Eliott Kessas, have started beefing up production at the company’s R&D facility in Europe as they are eyeing to expand revenues to over £7 million in the first year.

As per reliable sources, the product portfolio of DARING Foods includes a Cluck-free Fried Burger and a Moo-Free burger which do not contain eggs or dairy products, besides palm oil and genetically modified antibiotics, hormones or organisms. Sources further cite that the alternatives to chicken, red meat, and fish are made from simple ingredients like potato protein, wheat protein, and certain spices.

Ross Mackay commented on the deal and said that he is excited about the company’s collaboration with Lomond Foods, as it not only symbolizes DARING Foods’ first step towards becoming one of the exponentially growing food companies in the UK but also a major force in the vegan food space.

Sam Henderson, Managing Director at Lomond Fine Foods, was quite confident of the deal and was quoted saying that the sales of DARING Foods is certain to surge dramatically throughout the year 2019 and even after that.

Industry experts speculate that DARING Foods is currently ambitious of gaining a foothold in the meat alternatives market and intends to cash in on the UK’s remarkably expanding plant-based food market, which recorded a whopping 700 percent growth last year.

It has been reported that Johnston Carmichael is serving as the business advisor to the firm for higher growth.
